Tanzania Health Promotion Support (THPS) is a national non-governmental organization established in 2011. We collaborate with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and other partners to promote equitable, high-quality, accessible and sustainable health and social welfare services for all Tanzanians.

Guided by our Strategic Plan III (2026–2030), THPS supports health across the life course, with a focus on reproductive, maternal, newborn, child and adolescent health; infectious diseases and global health security; non-communicable diseases and mental health; health promotion and community engagement; social welfare and psychosocial support; and climate-related health risks. We also embrace digital innovation and Artificial Intelligence to strengthen health systems, service delivery and evidence-based decision-making.

We strengthen health and community systems, institutions and the health workforce, promoting people-centred approaches and sustainable service delivery at national, regional, council, facility and community levels. THPS also conducts public health surveys, operational and implementation research, and programme evaluations to generate evidence that informs policy and improves programmes.

With experience implementing public health programmes across Mainland Tanzania and Zanzibar, we work through existing government systems and community structures to strengthen local ownership and build resilient systems that sustain improvements beyond individual projects.

Recognizing the changing health and financing landscape, THPS continues to build partnerships with Government, development partners, civil society, communities, academia, the private sector and philanthropic organizations to advance innovative and sustainable solutions.
